Transfer from Agadir airport, to join the chain of the Anti-Atlas the large village of Khemis Ait Moussa. We pass by Biougra and Ait Baha (shops, catering) and, via a good mountain road, one reaches the asifAnguerf Valley. Ability to establish the camp 500m after the bridge over the river towards Tanalt (after imposing pink building on the climb, take 400m on the track on the edge of the oasis under the argan trees, water the small cascade). Just to put in legs, possibility to hike some of time in the valley, visit the deserted streets of Ait Moussa and back through the gardens along from the river.
5h / + 650m / -300m.
From camp (170m) down to the asifAnguerf. Being quite wide at this point, you should be careful when fording. Starting to get back on the track to a junction (45min, 330m). Straight is continued for 15 minutes before approaching a turn and then take a path that starts in front of a house. Beyond the house. On a grassy plateau in the middle of which stands a slender cairn (5 mins, 450m), continue on the slightly downhill. We pass through a village before arriving 15 minutes to an isolated house. It follows a steep descent to reach the canyon. At 340m above sea level, leave the main trail and till a large rock to reach the bank of the river (30min, 235m). Cross the river and reach the grassy benches on the opposite bank. We realize the devastating violence of storms that take everything in their path, the water can easily rise to a height of 3 to 4m. A proof, Look at the plastic bags hanging in the trees, you think they came there alone … Lunch Break welcome. Resume walking continuing straight through the terraces. We find a path along of asifAnguerf. Further, the path moves away from the river by 2 or 3 sets of laces to reach a pass (45min, 475m). The trail goes back to the bed of the wadi (river) but halfway up, at around 400m above sea level, follow the trail from hillside and joins the river. We follow time before crossing just before a series of boulders that block the passage (1h, 335m). The end of the day goes to we can be found a few meters before the entrance of Targan’Touchka (30mn, 405m). One can go to camp on a hill overlooking 50m Oasis Targan’Touchka. For this, at the entrance of the village, take the first road then follow it until it becomes a track whose first lace skirts a house pad. After 2 or 3 turns, we reached the promised flat space (15mn, 465m) in the middle of the ring of mountains.
5h30 / + 900m / -150m.
From the bivouac, go down to the village and join the bridge over the asifAnguerf (15mn, 405m). Fill up with water for the day. Take the track and cross the wadi in a ford and a few meters after turning into a trail that follows a waterfall and a new crossing of the wadi (45mn). Join a grassy bump where wild thyme blooms (15mn, 460m). Descend to the wadi (river), walk a few hundred meters along the torrent (30mn). Climb a good trail to the azibs (35mn, 635m). Nice view of the throat. We continue uphill to a gap that avoids the chaotic path in the throat. We pass a wide pass (30mn, 700m) between two rocky peaks. Descent straight and pass under the HV electric line. We reach a track that we will follow until the entrance of Agni Izzagarn (30mn, 615m). Continue in the direction of the village, pass a few houses and find the departure of the descent trail to the wadi (river), traced in the middle of the barbaric fig trees, near an isolated fortified house. Cross (15mn, 600m) and go up in front, cross a shoulder of fallow terraces behind which one finds the wadi. Cross it to reach after a few minutes a beautiful site grassed for the break meal (695m) at the entrance of the gorges. In the afternoon, we will follow alternately the wadi, in the middle of two cliffs very steep. A last dish (1h, 860m) before leaving the wadi bed to borrow on the right hand a cairned path that starts just after crossing a small stream descending from a valley on our right. We are now heading for the bifid cliff. One ascends gradually on a path in laces and reachTagdichte (30mn, 1075m). Under the houses, pass just below a pool of greenish water. We continue in a curve of level by passing at the foot of the houses that make up the village until finding the departure of the track. Follow it some time before arriving on a wide belvedere (35mn, 1200m), idyllic place to establish the bivouac. In the event that the assistance truck can not reach the camp, it is advisable to continue the trail to the pass, which is guessed on the left hand side (additional 35mn, 1350m, tarmac road)
6h30 / + 1050m / -800m.
From the bivouac above the village of Tagdichte, continue the track which climbs in laces towards the pass at 1350m (35mn). Arriving at the asphalt road, turn on the other slope and find the path that de-escalates the hillside and joins the concrete track (just before the road, water in the torrent). It leads us to a group of houses perched on a cliff face. One passes near a fountain before reaching a well (30mn, 1160m). Turn under the trees and join a beautiful fortified house positioned in an eagle’s nest on its rock. On its start a dizzying descent into a gully, fortunately on a beautiful trail very well maintained in short shoelaces. 200m lower, a more flat part leads us to a track (30mn, 915m). On the other side, we continue our way to the wadi (15mn, 875m). Cross it at best (very common if storms in the previous days) and go up under the foliage to the village. Pass near the oil mill before turning 40m further on a stepped path to reach the foot of the wall (30mn, 1050m).
Take on a stone staircase and another 5mn after to follow the edge of a terrace. Enter the village and climb at best by various sandy paths. Take foot on the track (30mn, 1200m). Take it to go up the upper valley above the village. Note the presence of some paths cut laces. We arrive at the pass (40mn, 1500m). We are in the territory of AguerdOuzrou and the landscape that is now proposed to us takes a completely different face from the previous one. We would rather be in the Bolivian Altiplano, all proportions … We follow the trail and we pass by a few isolated houses. Then, always on the trail, it is the descent to a village, crossing a wadi and arriving at the junction with the track of Tanalt (30mn, 1370m, house in ruins). Nice location for lunch under the trees sitting in the grass oily. In the afternoon, it is the descent of the valley during 2 hours. We pass near Tamza. At the other end of the trail, in view of the school complex of Ait Iftene, find a shortcut that goes down the wadi before going up into the almond orchard to the road. Follow the tar for 1,5km and find the start of a track that runs along the torrent. It is the main access road to the village that goes up 400m to establish the bivouac near the torrent on the grassy benches. We are now at the foot of the village of Ait Iftene at 1470m, under the kind protection of the lord of the places: the JbelLekst and its impressive cliffs of verticality.
6h / + 1100m / -970m.
From the bivouac under the trees, head towards the village and cross the torrent. Thirty meters after, take to D a cairn track that climbs the terraces until 20mn return to the “official” path that starts from the village of Ait Iftene. Follow the indications given by the cairns. We approach the wall (40mn, 1760m). Leave now the path of Tagdichte de Tafraoute to go straight on pass the pass that we see in front and turn frankly to D to go up a wide corridor stone. Follow the guideline given by the cairns. We approach a pass (45mn, 2015m). Now, go on the G. The path in contour becomes narrower until it is only a wide vire in which it is sometimes necessary to lay hands to secure (but objectively not really danger to be feared). One passes a spring before climbing a collar which is located on the right hand in the middle of rocky points. We switch to the S side (40mn, 2150m). At our feet spreads the region of Tafraoute with the JbelMqorn, well recognizable, planted in the middle of the plateau. We start on the side of the D to reach a collar from which, following the line of cairns, we reach the summit of JbelLekst (30mn, 2375m). Panorama at 360 ° view from plane. Really impressive! In a rather unpredictable way, there are numerous stone buildings and among others a Berber mosque and all around the houses to accommodate the faithful when they follow the annual pilgrimage. Besides, one could have suspected by translating the name of this summit: Afan’Timezgadiwine which means in Tamazight “the highest mosque”. And the discoveries do not end there: imagine that at the top of this mountain there is a source of pure water in the form of a lake protected under a stone vault. Incredible but true !
After the lunch break slightly below the summit and sheltered from the wind, neglect the cairns that leave towards the D (direct route but a bit scabrous for the descent) and take the way of ascension in the opposite direction until the l The emergence of a descent corridor on the D (15mn, 2240m): at the level of the first shrubs encountered, a cairn wisely placed on the right of the trail invites to tip in the descent. The line of cairns parallel to the stream is followed more or less. In the hollow of the valley, tilt slightly to D to reach, at the price of a small climb, a collar cluttered with large rocky blocks (25mn, 2080m). From there, follow the wide ledge dug in the cliff to another collar (30mn, 2060m). Turning to the right, one can distinguish the departure of the “direction” of the Lekst marked with a cairn. We go down the valley from D to the foot of a rocky kidney marking a new slope at D which allows to reach the bed of the stream (30mn, 1900m). Follow it downstream, avoid a new rocky kidney and descend more frankly on a slope colonized by thorny bushes until you find the bed of the stream (15mn, 1865m). Note that at 2mn upstream hides an idyllic place: a deep basin fed by a waterfall. What should we do? We only have one hour left to finish the stage … It’s up to you to judge! In any case, swimming or not, we will have to continue our descent and for this it will be necessary to follow the torrent, to go up on the rocks of the left to leave the throat and find an excellent trail in laces that one goes Follow until Anergui. It runs along the side of cliff at a distance more and more respectable from the bottom of the canyon before escaping on the G in a collar and down a wide sloping corridor by an interminable series of laces. At the foot of the corridor, walk through the terraces and enter the village of Anergui (1585m) near the sports ground. Bivouac under the almond trees near the first house.
6h30 / + 300m / -800m.
From Anergui, take a 30-minute descent through the concrete track until you find a trail leading to the Anamer, a small village located on a wide bend overlooking the road and the telecoms pylon In the valley of the Ameln. Entrance from the top of the village (1h, 900m).Warning ! This trail makes it possible to avoid the endless journey on the concrete track (10kms downhill) and the track that follows on the tar (10kms again) to reach the point of entry of the chaos rock of Tafraoute, step. Make sure the escort is clearly specified at the time of the estimate if he is familiar with the Anamer descent trail; If this is not the case, arrange for the group’s car conveying to Ait Ouzrou. From Anamer, follow the tarred main road through the valley of the Ameln. A G on the road to join at the exit E of Ait Ouzrou (1h, 835m, grocery). Cross the tar and tread the prairie grasslands until reaching the line of palm trees and just behind the bank of the wadi. Cross the river and continue in the direction of the mountain. The trail that we are going to take is marked with white dots and runs halfway up RG of the valley, in the middle of the red rocks.
Really impressive and beautiful! One reaches a first pass and then immediately behind a second pass (1h, 975m). Large view on the plain of Tafraoute.Quiet descent before approaching the crossing of the plain (pretty rocky complexes). We pass near the cemetery before entering Tafraoute (30mn, 930m, all shops, banks, restaurants, transport). In the afternoon, head for AguerdOudad, which winds its way through the red rocks along the wadi. Enter the village by the right lane (1h, 1020m). Cross the deserted village and reach the vast plateau that extends beyond the last houses. Establish the remote remote village camp (difficult negotiation with the guard of the last property), will we say to 400m near a well. Nice walk in 30mn on the neighboring rocky summit. There is a beautiful view of the famous “Napoleon’s hat” which dominates the village. At the bottom, Tafraoute, and farther, the barrier of JbelLekst.
3h30 / + 630m / -100m.
From the encampment on the plateau to 1020m, go in the direction of an isolated stack of red stones to the characteristic shape of lascivious woman with a hat with wide edge before inclining to bypass the village of Aoussif (30mn, 1075m ). Leave the area of flat rocks and head towards the abandoned white marble quarry. This was used to extract the blocks with which the Great Hassan II Mosque of Casablanca was built. Go through the red blocks to reach a collar (20mn, 1100m). Continue and cross twice the road. Go up a wadi (10mn, 1100m). Follow the irrigation canal for 500m before finding a good path that leaves a moment of the river bed to return soon. Cross the river until you cross a large meadow. Cross the wadi one last time and find the start of a path that runs along this new valley over a hillock (30mn, 1140m). We reach climbing pastures (20mn, 1260m) at the foot of JbelMqorn. Continue straight until the village of Ayerhd (20mn, 1330m). Go down to the wadi which separates the village in two parts before taking a lane direction and fall on the grocery store. Go up in front of the grocery store on a path that zigzags on both sides of the water pipeline. We pass a collar (15mn, 1440m) and continue in a curve of level on the plateau through the fallow fields under the granite needles of JbelMqorn. 20mn after passing the collar, note a cairn on the right of the road which invites to cross the wadi to join a wide pass on a path whose cairns have been found. From the pass, go down the wadi near the catchment and tilt towards the 3 houses that are distinguished in the distance. The camp is located near the track at the foot of the village of BouAmane or ImiMqorn (15mn, 1550m).
6h45 / + 200m / -650m.
From the bivouac, take the track and then 200m after crossing the wadi, find a more sympathetic path on your left. La, we find the track 20mn away at the moment when it presents a pronounced elbow on the right (cairn). For 30 minutes, we will cross the reg, this desert space cluttered with stones and on which nothing grows.
We alternate between road and track but always in direction of the village that we distinguish in the distance. Entering the first hamlet, take the narrow streets to descend to the edge of the wadi and find a path leading to the second hamlet (10mn, 1580m, mosque, grocery stores, cafes). We are in TatlaTasrit. Continue on the road to the S over 200m and branch off in a cross road that goes towards the river (20mn, 1525m). We walk around the village of Tinzguit on its right and come to a fork of paths (30mn, 1480m) in which one must follow the path of the top. We continue in a slight climb to go through a small wadi lined with laurels in a bottom of valley. Now follow a path on the flank, a path which rises to open into a wide valley where sometimes graceful Cuvier gazelles graze. Leave the path to find a new path in the middle of an orchard of almond trees. Go up the hill and follow the path in contour. We cross a new shoulder (40mn, 1475m). The trail is lost a bit but we must now approach the road. The old path before the construction of the road exists and it is the one that we will follow, a few meters above the tar. One thus joins the departure of a track in a lace of the paved road (20mn, 1375m). Numerous shortcuts make it possible to avoid the tiresome passage in all the laces. You reach the road just before a wide ford (20mn, 1250m). Follow the tar on 1000m before returning to the historic trail. Go up a few meters to get a foothold and continue up to the collar in which a watchtower is built. On the other side of the mountain, the path descends slightly towards the oasis whose green palms contrast with the red rock of the high walls of the canyon. We go on two rocky vires carved on the cliff as a prelude to the entrance into the gorges of Ait Mansour. The walls are getting closer and closer and we take advantage of it to get off at best to reach the road, here we will meet the vehicle for transfer to Agadir.
